Questions & Answers about the GMCDI


1. Where can I get a copy of the GMCDI report?

You can download a version of the report in both official languages from our website: just follow the link on the left-hand side of this page.

2. Who will coordinate and implement the recommendations of the report? 

The current GMCDI Coordinating Committee helped set up three Task Forces whose job it is to develop a plan for the implementation of the recommendations. The three Task Forces are: Arts, Culture, and Heritage; Education and Employability; and Health and Social Services.

3. Who sits on the Coordinating Committee? 

Mr. Don Taylor and Mr. Dennis Smith will stay on as Co-Chairs, and the rest of the committee will be made up of leaders in the English-speaking community.

They include: Vivian Croubalian, Guy Rodgers, Jim Carter, Margaret Fung, Jennifer Johnson, Margaret Lefebvre, Dan Lamoureux, Martin Murphy, Fo Niemi, and Heather Powers.

The GMCDI aims to be inclusive and fully representative of the English-speaking communities of the Greater Montreal Area.

4. Who sits on the Task Forces?

The names of the Task Force members can be found by following the link on the left-hand side of the page.

5. What will be the role of the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN)?

The QCGN will facilitate and support the work of the GMCDI. To that end, the QCGN will be responsible primarily for securing funding in order to assist the Coordinating Committee in implementing the recommendations of the report.

6. What will be the cost of implementing these recommendations?  Who will be funding these initiatives?

The QCGN will be seeking funding for this project from the Department of Canadian Heritage, as well as from the Government of Canada’s anticipated new budget for the Action Plan on Official Languages.

7. Did you consult with the community and sector groups mentioned in your report?  Have they endorsed your recommendations?

A number of sector professionals and community leaders have endorsed in principle the contents of the report.

The Coordinating Committee consulted key stakeholders on many occasions throughout this initiative. 

The GMCDI plans to work with all interested community and sector organizations in implementing the recommendations of the report
