      <title>October 6, 2009 - QCGN invited to discuss the impacts of late funding before the Standing Committee on Official Languages </title>
      <description>On June 16, 2009 QCGN presented to the Parliamentary Committee on Official Languages to discuss funding issues related to the Network. At that time, the Committee underlined their commitment to study in more detail the problems and potential solutions. On October 6th, 2009, the QCGN will discuss ‘’the impacts of the delays in providing funding to beneficiary organizations from the Department of Canadian Heritage” before the Parliamentary Committee. On hand at meeting will be Mr. Robert Donnelly, President, Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), Mrs. Sylvia Martin-Laforge, Director General, Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), Mrs. Heather Stronach, Executive Director, Regional Association of West Quebecers (RAWQ) and Mr. Lawrence DePoe, Executive Director, Canadian Parents for French (CPF).</description>

      <description>MONTREAL, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2009 – A new collaborative website, launched by the Quebec Community Groups Network, is designed to become an indispensable, internet-based tool for community organizers and institutions in English-speaking Quebec.
“QUESCAN – the Quebec English-speaking Community Action Network, located at www.quescan.info - will be the place where individuals, community groups, government and university partners learn about and contribute to the vitality of English-speaking Quebec,” commented Robert Donnelly, President of the Quebec Community Groups Network which launched the new site at its annual convention in Gatineau on September 11th.

The Quebec Community Groups Network is pleased to announce the winners of the Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Distinguished Community Service Awards.  The first ever laureates have one thing in common – a lengthy and impressive record of community service.  The winners are lawyer and longtime promoter of equality and English rights Casper Bloom, Eastern Townships-based healthcare advocate Marjorie Goodfellow, and researcher Jack Jedwab, who has contributed immensely to our knowledge and understanding of English-speaking Quebec. </description>

      <title>QCGN announced line up of training workshops for its convention in September</title>
      <description>The Quebec Community Groups Network is pleased to announce its exciting line up of training workshops and workshop leaders for our Fall Convention on September 11th and 12th in Gatineau, Quebec. 
As you know, the convention will kick off with a workshop on how to use QUESCAN, our new community development website that will be launched at our event.  
On Friday afternoon, Dora Koop, Director of Business Solutions at McGill University, will present a workshop on Working With Stakeholders.  This hands-on workshop will give participants the tools they require to analyze their stakeholders and manage stakeholders for different projects and needs.   
Saturday morning will start off with a bang with a trio quick presentations based on the TED   (Technology, Entertainment and Design: www.ted.com) model.  Participants will be introduced to three different themes in presentations that will last 20 minutes each.  After that, there will be break-out sessions where participants will be able to get more details on their topic of choice. 
First up will be Ilona Dougherty, Executive Director of Apathy is Boring, who will tell you How to Engage Youth in Your Work. Dougherty will introduce participants to a hands-on interactive guide on how to effectively engage youth.
Next up will be communications mentor Ian Capstick of MediaStyle who will tell us How to Use Social Media to Build Community on a Shoestring.  Captsick will discuss the fundamentals of building online communities and inform participants on how to tools like Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Wikis and other collaborative sites to create vibrant active online conversation.
Last, but not least, You Asked For It!  Fundraising 101: Starter Recipe for the Accident Prone.
Yvette Ghattas, the Founder and Senior Consultant at Multiply Inc. will help you maximize the resources around you and teach you the 10 basic keys to fundraising success.  “There is no “fun" in fundraising when you have no idea where to begin and how to control it,” says the consultant with more than 12 years of progressive fundraising and development experience.
